  • anyone using contacts?

I'm hoping to find others on here like me, who suffer from extreme dry eyes, and is now wearing contacts as a help, I suffered for a year, tried the Restasis, which made it much worse, and every drop under the sun, a seemed to develop a sensitivity to the drops, I now use similasan for allergy drops, which are the only drops or gels that did not make my eyes and the skin around my eyes worse. After suffering another bout with corneal abrasions and so much pain, the corneal specialist put in a band aid contact, and finally relief....I've been wearing soft disposable contacts for almost a year now, and would like to know which kinds of contacts you have tried, and which ones seemed to help the best with dry eyes? I still have to add drops, some days very often, depending on the conditions and my eyes, but I do feel better with them then without them. I still have no tears, but at times have felt some moisture upon crying with the contacts. Does anyone know if long term use can help relieve the inflammation and maybe my eyes will make their own tears again? I had punctal stenosis and DCR surgery years ago, but did not develop the dry eyes until two years ago. I would like to explore different brands of soft lenses but don't know enough about them right now.

Chemia, thanks for the reply. Do you by any chance have an astigmatism? I wear a torqe (spell?) lens in my left eye. I have OK oil, but no liquid being produced, not even when I cry. About a year before I developed the severe dry eyes, I was always fishing mucous strand out, I should have know something was up, but treated it like a irritation more than a symptom of something wrong, wish I had seen someone then. I'm looking for the best contact for our condition, and most have to give them up when they develop this, but they have helped me so much, without them my eyes hurt and are irritated most of the time. I'm so happy to hear that another has been helped too

Hi I wear air optix cibavision for astigmatism and they really help me. When I don't wear them my eyes hurt. I have aqueous deficiency probably due to autoimmune issues, no meibomian issues. My eye doc recommends the contacts for me and says they are helping to shield my eye.
