  • Can TOPAMAX or Trileptal cause Meibomian Gland Dysfunction ?

Since about 11 years i'm on Topamax and Trileptal for treating epilepsy. Last year I was diagnosed with MGD. I'm wondering if these meds can cause Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.

The instuctions notice of the TOPAMAX medication warns for these side effects:

TOPAMAX® may cause eye problems. Serious eye problems include: sudden decrease in vision with or without eye pain and redness; blockage of fluid in the eye causing increased pressure in the eye (secondary angle closure glaucoma). These eye problems can lead to permanent loss of vision if not treated. You should call your healthcare professional right away if you have any new eye symptoms.

Is there anyone who can tell me more about MGD and using TOPAMAX and Trileptal ?
