  • Aspartame

My problem is primarily ocular rosacea but as of yestersay i'm quitting Aspartame ( it's hard cos the thing seems to be in everthing) just cos i've tried everything else.
Do a google search,, doesn't seem like a very useful inclusion to our diets.

    Very interesting -
I am on a constant weight loss diet to help my arthritis and i use sweetner all the time .I am not by any means obese - just a bit overweight
I avoid ones with aspartame in them -not 'cos of dry eyes - i had no idea they could contribute to DE - but 'cos they are carcinogenic
I take "splenda " a derivative of sugar that claims to have no aspartame in it
It comes as tablets and in powder form

      Hi Stella
      Hi Robbie

I have just noticed that even Gaviscon tablets contain Aspartame.

True, but when I googled "splenda side effects" I saw that some people are really allergic to it---see this website here. The scary thing they say is that sucralose resembles pesticides, and isn't "natural" or "made from sugar"--special warning about not giving it to children.

I know you can find some bad reports on just about everything, but it seemed like a legitimate critique of the product.
