  • bandage lens questions

I am considering getting PRK in one eye but my eyes cannot tolerate contact lenses for more than 8 hours. I told the optometrist this..how would I keep a bandage lens in for seven days straight? is it very similar to a regular contact lens?
The only dry eye test they administered was the Schirmer test. Is this standard?

    Thanks.

I just had PRK 6 weeks ago. I had mild dry eyes before the operation. The lens is not really noticeable after the surgery (at least it wasn't to me). That being said around day 6 it started to bother me and they simply changed it out with a new one. I was contact lens intolerant and really didn't have any problems. Your mileage may vary, but this was my experience.

With regards to tear quality/quantity tests, the Schrimer test was the only one they administered in my pre-op evaluation.

Please let me know if you have other questions.
