  • Lumify is available on Amazon but currently out of stock. Assume it will send over the next month or so once officially released.

    https://www.amazon.com/Lumify-Rednes...70_&dpSrc=srch

I live in Australia so have ordered this to a US address and then to be shipped to me (Amazon wont ship this to Australia)
Hoping I get this soon - Will post my results
Does anyone have an initial plan on how they will start using this? e.g. use it everyday from day 1 or use it every second day? To see what the effects are etc.

        • Dear All, Lumify contains BAK as preservative, similar to many other bottled eye drops, so those who suffer from severe dryness besides the redness, please be careful on using Lumify drops in order not to further increase the dryness.

            • Franklin, I usually like to take my drops in the late morning, after i wake up and shower. I feel like i need to give me eyes and hour or two in the morning to adjust/calibrate. I plan on going one drop in each eye once a day, and assessing from there.

              • Because this product contains BAK exercise extreme caution and us it judiciously. Don't forget our tear film is already severely compromised and the last thing any of us need is to make the situation worse for the sake of vanity. If I were actually able to tolerate BAK on any level I would save this for those special occasions when I didn't want to show up looking like a stoner, like at a wedding or party other special occasion.

The following quote is from a study published in 2010....

The most frequently used preservative, benzalkonium chloride (BAK), has consistently demonstrated its toxic effects in laboratory, experimental, and clinical studies. As a quaternary ammonium, this compound has been shown to cause tear film instability, loss of goblet cells, conjunctival squamous metaplasia and apoptosis, disruption of the corneal epithelium barrier, and damage to deeper ocular tissues. The mechanisms causing these effects have not been fully elucidated, although the involvement of immunoinflammatory reactions with the release of proinflammatory cytokines, apoptosis, oxidative stress, as well as direct interactions with the lipid components of the tear film and cell membranes have been well established. Preservative-induced adverse effects are therefore far from being restricted to only allergic reactions, and side effects are often very difficult to identify because they mostly occur in a delayed or poorly specific manner. Care should therefore be taken to avoid the long-term use of preservatives, otherwise a less toxic alternative to BAK should be developed, as this weakly allergenic but highly toxic compound exerts dose- and time-dependent effects. On the basis of all these experimental and clinical reports, it would be advisable to use benzalkonium-free solutions whenever possible, especially in patients with the greatest exposure to high doses or prolonged treatments, in those suffering from preexisting or concomitant ocular surface diseases, and those experiencing side effects related to the ocular surface. Indeed, mild symptoms should not be underestimated, neglected, or denied, because they may very well be the apparent manifestations of more severe, potentially threatening subclinical reactions that may later cause major concerns.

This is where i have come to no result on my eye problems. All my specialist that I have been to said my eyes a healthy and have no problems associated with tear production, dry eye, eye pressure etc.
The only problem i have is the big red veins i have, which is a cosmetic problem for me.
I will take your advice and see how Lumify goes

                        • Bummer about the BAK. How long until Allergan makes Lumify-P with PURITE instead of BAK?

                              • I was just assuming based on the announcements. It seems as though those who ordered early enough on Amazon have received the shipment and are happy so far. Based off reviews on Amazon.
My drops have arrived in Australia FedEx - just waiting for them to clear customs and be delivered to me. Estimated to be 1 more day (fingers crossed)
