  • Attn: Allergy Sufferers & Eye Rubbers

    Hi,

I came across an article in Review of Ophthalmology, called "Keratoconus: Time to Rewrite the Textbooks," but the subtitle might get folks here a little riled up ("Recent work is showing that many patients with keratoconus or post-LASIK keratoectasia are contributing to their own condition").

But, I am not posting this to cause trouble! During the phases when my erosions would heal (that is, before tearing asunder again), my eyes would become extremely itchy. I started to associate extreme itching with the healing process, and I was tempted to rub my eyes, but, of course, discovered in short order that I absolutely could not.

This article explains different kinds of eye rubbing, the issue of pressure on the eyes during sleep, and other factors that affect "keratoconus or post-LASIK keratoectasia."

I found it to be helpful, even though I don't have these problems exactly.
