  • do allergies affect tear production?

Okay, I am ruling every possibility out. I spoke to an allergist who stated that while allergies will make the eye itchy and irritated it does not affect tera production. Is there any one who can verify this for me? I hav a little pressure in the upper right hand corner of my eye that is more pronounced when blowning my nose. The specialist I saw for my eye said that dry eyes can cause a list of problems as long as my arm. Need help, info.

    Hi Databass1,

I know allergies can make eyes pretty darn watery. There are three layers to a healthy tear film and it's not too much fun when one of them gets out of whack.

I cannot authoritatively answer your question but I can share a reference I use from time to time. I'm not always up on the terminology but I keep learning as I go .
