  • Protein deposit question?

Can one see protein deposits on a lens? I'm trying the new Oasys lens, and they told me NOT to use protein deposit remover though deposits are a problem with me. They said just use the all in one cleaning solution, but if I see "stuff" on the lens is that protein?

Sounds like the protein remover harms that particular lens. I don't think you can actually see protein deposits--the eye doctor can see them through magnification. I have found the "no rub" solutions and peroxide (clear care) burn and irritate my eyes. I have gone back to the plain disinfecting solution (Alcon makes one---not their "Express" or "replenish" type, though) for night storage, and use a cleaner and thorough rinse before storage at night.

The "No Rub" solutions have a bit of detergent or something in them which most people don't notice, but irritates dry eyes.
