  • How long does it usually take for warm compresses to start working?

I very recently saw a doctor who specializes in dry eyes, and finally I've been given a proper diagnosis. It turns out I have MGD due to clogged up, hardened oil in my meibomian glands (caused by the fact that I don't blink fully most of the time).

I've started using warm compresses twice a day. I just wanted to ask, does anyone know roughly how long it takes for the meibomian glands to clear up and start producing enough oil again when warm compresses are used twice a day? Or does it just vary from person to person?

Also, I've noticed that after using warm compresses, I see white specs on my meibomian glands on my bottom eyelids. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing that this is some of the hardened oil being removed, so is this a good sign?
