whats the point of getting glands expressed just to clog up again????

anyone else feel this way? it helps for a minute but then they close up right away even with warm compresses, massage, doxy. fish oil. etc... restasis..omg

i had a doc express them so hard last week and he got all the junk out but my lids killed me for almost a whole day. today i found a corneal specialist who expressed them and i came home and still found white toothpaste crap wanting to come out... so frustrated.. its like he didnt get the whole eyelid.. ever go through this????

If I was you Jenny I would be excited! The fact that your glands are clogged and all this stuff is coming out is amazingly good news for you!

It means that your glands are producing the oil, but for some reason the oil is hardening and is unable to reach to the surface. Now the only thing you need to do is find a way to unharden the oil.

Ideas off the top of my head would be:
- Heating it (compresses or LipiFlow)
- Some sort of drug that loosens it up
- Eating foods that promote more liquid oil

Have you tried LipiFlow by the way? Might not be a bad idea for you to try at some point if you haven't.

Hey jenny, you sound like me...I remember when I was getting them expressed, I would get relief for a few hours, they would continure to ooze out for awhile after expressing. If is was a "good" expression, I remember getting crusties the next morning because they were still expelling the gunk. But you need to get the inflamation down to keep it flowing! Try no heat, sent you a personal message also!
