  • Morning Dryness. Night Time - Eye Gel (preservative free) recommendations?

I'm considering the following... Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Patrick

    GenTeal Gel

Refresh Celluvisc Liquid Gel (I hear these leave crusty gunk on your lids and lashes in the morning though)
    http://www.amazon.com/Allergan-Cellu...resh+Celluvisc

    Thera Tears Liquid Gel

Hi Patrick. My suggestion, if you get Celluvisc, is to get the preservative free version in the vials, not the kind in the bottle. I am not super sensitive to preservatives, but Celluvisc in a bottle didn't work half as well for me as the Celluvisc in the vials. Celluvisc in the vials is a product I always keep on hand as it's the most soothing thing I've ever used, and the cool, soothing sensation lasts for a while and doesn't exacerbate or irritate any redness I already have. In fact, it's my "rescue product" if I overwear my contact lenses (yes, I'm a dry eye patient who still persists in wearing disposable dailies!). Good luck, and I hope you've found something that works for you!

ETA: I don't use it with contact lenses in -- just wanted to clarify. It's too gel-like and "goopy" for that.

Thank you. I've been using Genteal Gel which has seemed pretty good for the nigh time to morning dryness. In regards to contacts I've heard good things about the Safigel dailies from my dry eye doctor. He even suggested using them for part of my post-lasik treatment, although I'm hesitant because I've tried contacts when I was in highschool and hated them... then again that was more than 14 years ago and there have been many advances in contact lenses. Good luck to you.

hello why not trying to not use anything at all? for me works best to not use eyedrops first i was afraid i would get abrasions but that didn't happen i'm ok of course my eyes are dry in the morning but after yawning they lubricate well by themselves

of course it depends on the severity because many months after lasik i definitely had to put gel many times at night but right now i feel any eyedrop makes my eyes far worse is like these artificial tears break up the delicat
mechanism of my own tear production

I know what you mean, it is a delicate balance. Sometimes my eyes just get worse with drops, and I need to wash it out with saline. But most of the times, I still have to use drops to get at least some releif.

I know what you mean as well. Sometimes it seems that i get wonderful relief after putting in drops then 15 min later they are worse then when I put the drops in to begin with.
