They helped me, many others not so much. We are all different and the etiology of your problem is different so it is something you just have to try for yourself. I had uppers only...no help, lowers only...no help, both uppers and lowers...bingo it was a game changer, I'll never go back, in fact I have had the uppers permanently cauterized because I can't survive without them.

I’ve had plugs for the last 6 years and I’m happy with them. The ones I have are the “permanent” silicon type with a cap. They were the only thing that ever gave me any significant relief from dry eye. I would say getting the right fit is the most important thing. I have a .5mm plug in my left eye and a .6mm plug in the right eye. If they aren’t the right size they can fall out. If they are too big they can be scratchy.

        Hi ! PRK
Does it mean your eyes are back to normal?!? No more dry eye symptoms such as aches and pains, like drowsiness. And you can read books, watch movies, phones like normal? Do you still use artificial tears every day?
        thanks for reply

For me, my eyes are not back to normal but they sure made a difference. I can do all of the above but still use artificial tears as needed, of course some days are better than others.

That is very strange, too early??? What the heck, if they don't help, take them out, they are not permanent. He is probably waiting to see if your eye recovers from the lasik but in the meantime, even if they do eventually recover, the plugs may give you some relief. I'd for sure revisit that one with the Dr.

I would say my eyes are 95% normal now. They still get a little dry in the middle of the night or morning sometimes but they are nowhere close to how they used to be. I haven'’t used drops since I got punctal plugs. I had all four tear ducts plugged for a year or two then two of them fell out so now I just have one in each eye and that has worked out.

About your doctor saying it’'s too early for plugs. It’'s possible they could be right about this and you just need to wait it out. Though I’'m going to assume this is your Lasik doctor or someone affiliated with Lasik? If so then they have a conflict of interest and you might want to look into other doctors possibly a cornea specialist or someone who specializes in dry eye. I had the same problem as you with my Lasik doctor. Psychologically it can be hard for them to admit that Lasik (their profession) might have caused you a problem. It’'s much easier for them to convince themselves that you’'re not in that much discomfort and they aren'’t any part of your discomfort. It’'s also possible they just don’t have much experience with punctal plugs but are afraid to tell you and it'’s easier for them prescribe you some drops instead. This is just talking from my experiences. Cheers!

Probably not IPL because I think they do that once a month not every week. I am not sure what steaming your eyes means but I hope it helps....F/G

I am not sure what the treatment is but I sure hope it helps.

For the blood serum drops, they do a blood draw the same as if you are having blood tests done. Then they spin the blood and remove the plasma which is a clear yellowish liquid. They then mix that with non preserved saline usually and put it into small dropper bottles that last about 3 weeks. You freeze all of it except the bottle you are using.
