  • Inflammation around punctual plugs

Hello everyone! I have a question for you. For over a year I have had punctal plugs, lower. For quite a while they were very helpful. When I laughed until I cried, for the first time in years, I actually cried!

Periodically I have experienced redness around the plugs themselves. It used to be just a periodic issue, but it seems to be chronic now. This happens even when I use my lotemax steroid drops as recommended by my optometrist. I suspect that the plugs are no longer helping, but hindering by creating additional inflammation in my eyes. So I end up with red lines extending from my tear ducts to my iris.

    Anyone ever experienced this before?

Silicone sensitivity could do it. Wonder if it might be worth trying some six month dissolvables instead?

How has this worked out for you? I have been experiencing redness around one plug which then pushes it out just a big which then causes me to feel its presence. Please let me know how you are doing now. Thank you
