  • Azasite and BAK

    Hi everyone.

My optometrist recently wrote me a prescription for Azasite because it is one of the few options that we have not tried. I was unaware however that this contains the preservative benzalkonium chloride and now I am afraid to try it.

The last drop I took consistently with benzalkonium chloride was Lotemax and I had a horrible reaction to it. It made my eyes considerably worse with redness and inflammation. I still don't know if it was the preservative or the active ingredient.

I don't know what to do. My eyes are so super sensitive to everything, I am afraid to take the Azasite.

What do you think? You are my dry eye family and my only sounding board.

    Thanks a bunch.

    Deb,

Azasite made me much worse. I'm not sure why. You could try it, but if your eyes feel much dryer ... STOP! I feel my burning got much worse after trying the azasite. Give the restasis a good try first. It is preservative free!!

    Just my 2 cents,
