  • I have blocked nasolacrimal ducts AND dry eyes. Is it possible to have both??

    Hi
I'm new here and this is my first post.
I have dry eyes mainly at night, but all day my eyes (mainly right) water. The right eye gets infected often.
I've been diagnosed with obstructed nasolacrimal ducts which explains the tearing and infections. But is it possible that I also suffer separately from dry eye syndrome too? My eyes are so dry at night that my lids are stuck to my eyeball and have to lift it up to insert drops. I have tried tear drops and ointments but nothing is providing long term relief.
I went to see a specialist and after her did a saline flush test confirmed that both my ducts are blocked and recommended DCR surgery.
What I've read is that this surgery can cause even further dry eye symptoms.

I'm not sure what to do bec I need relief from both issues.

Is there a chance that the dry eyes are a result of my blocked ducts somehow and that this issue will resolve after surgery or just get worse ?

Did anyone suffer from both these issues pre DCR surgery?

    Thanks

Hopefully someone will share their experience with you Cookie. There are people who have been on this forum who have had this surgery, and I hope that someone will be able to share their experience with you. Best wishes, and welcome.
