  • OCUNOX ointment with vitamin A

I have been suffering from MGD since 1998. I'm 51 years old and it took forever to diagnose. I've tried everything imaginable and I've seen a gazillion of specialists. Ocunox has been my saviour. I use it at night and sometimes even during the day if I'm desperate (it does end up making the skin around my eye greasy and it does make my eye makeup smudge), but I feel better and my eye looks MUCH better (less swollen and sore). Above and beyond that, my TBT (tear breakup time) has improved from a 2 to a 6. This was performed through a machine (can't recall what it's called, but it also shows your glands ... it's a brand new machine). I can't tell you how much I recommend this stuff. Is there any "proof"/literature that indicates that it can "interfere" by "clogging" your glands further? I'm very well read on the subject since I'm always looking for ways to contend with this ... and I have found nothing. You?? Anyone?

I think it is. In Canada it is put out by Candorvision ... it's in the same line as Hylo. I really can't speak highly enough about Ocunox. I used to put drops in every 20 mins ... I became "known" for my eye drops ... couldn't get through a movie, a dinner, etc. Now, I put it in at night and once more mid-day and that's it. My eyes are not perfect, but they look and feel so much better. I have no affiliation whatsoever with the company (I always worry that I rave so much about a product, people will assume) ... I buy it at Shopper's Drug Mart ... they have to order it in for me, but it usually takes a few days and I wait to buy it until there is a 20 times your point event or Senior's Day (and my mom gets it for me). Not that expensive any way. Try it ... you won't be sorry!!!

Hi Shawna - I just started using the Ocunox and I still need to use it twice a night like with the other ointments and during the day I still need to use my drops every 30 minutes to hourly. I'm aqueous deficient but I have noticed that it helps more than other products I have tried. I also use the Hylo drops and with this sometimes I can go for two hours before needing it again, depends what I'm doing. I too highly recommend this line, it is amazing! I see my specialist on Friday and I'm hoping also to get punctal plugs!

Even though it's not ideal, I use Ocunox during the day too. I put a small amount on a q-tip and put it in the sac. It does sometimes makes the area around my eye greasy, but it's a small price to pay. I actually find it's a miracle worker. Only one of my eyes causes me grief although both of them are equally bad according to tests. Have you met with any other successes you'd be willing to share? Also, I'm from Toronto ... you?
