    Thyroid or Yasmin?

I have been struggling with dry eye for almost 3 years, and have gotten much worse over the last year. After countless visits of being told to use artificial tears...I just recently was asked if I had ever had my thyroid checked, or switched birth control pills. I have an appointment scheduled next week to look into this. After reading these posts, I see a few other people who have been using Yasmin or Yaz. Since this is a relatively new drug, I wonder if there's a connection? I plan on looking into alternatives with my doctor next week.

Also, I recently looked into lasik since contact lens wear has become unbearable. The tests suggested I may have a mild case of keratoconus...a disease that thins the cornea. I now have to meet with a cornea specialist. I'm wondering if there's a connection with dry eye too? Apparently, contact lenses help your vision and are the best course of action for patients with keretoconus...but for those of us with severe dry eye, what's left? I'm so miserable and feel like there's no hope.

I just started taking flaxseed oil and bought a humidifier. I also just started with Restasis drops. I guess I'll have a better idea in a few weeks....

      Jsalad,

Were you on Yaz or Yasmin? If so, how long did you take it and did it coincide with your dry eye symptoms?
