  • Mucous in eyes

    Hi everybody,
I am a 22 year old male mathematics student. For the past year i have had mucous in my eyes all day and all night. I tried various antibiotic drops and tablets but my problem has seem to gotten worse by that u mean the mucous has increased. I dont feel pain. Its really hard to be socialable or look any one in the eye with this problem and it is highly dentremental to my life. Ive seen a million and one eye specialists and no one seems to know whats up exept for the wide term known as dry eye. My mebomium glands are some what blocked and produce a paste like substance but since warm compresses that has stopped about two months ago. Ive had plugs in lower ducts. The mucous is white and stringy builds up in corner or my eyes near my nose. I do not extract it. And leave it their so i do not have mucous fishing syndrome. I use perserv free eye drops frequently and i do lid scrubs once a day. Any ideas our there? Any sufferes with the same issue?
    Kindest regards
    Ess.

What I use is Purilens Plus Ultra PF to flush my eyes out for that reason. For me it will dry out and cause me more problems that I don't want. Everytime that I went to the opthamologist I saw that they were using Unisol 4 and I ended up finding it in stores and that's all I used for my dry eyes, because I could flush my eyes out and give me moisture at the same time. Since that time Unisol 4 has been discontinued due to a packaging issue, so I switched to Purilens Plus Ultra PF, which ends up being about the same cost as Unisol 4 and it always feels good in my eyes. I will even place my index finger and thumb gently on my eyelashes and slowly move them from the base to the outer edge to remove dried mucus. I also use a warm washcloth. I guess that's my 2 cents of info lol. I personally do not use lid scrubs.

      HI Arcluce,
The product you use: Purilens Plus Ultra PF is it just a preservative free lubricating eye drop?. because i use one that is Called Hyco-San plus. However i have never come across an eyedrop that would manage to dry out the mucous? my mucous stays wet and in the corner of my eyes. Does yours actually dry up and then not form for 4 hours? because if so that would be pretty awesome.
      kindest regards

Yeah, purilens plus ultra pf is just a preservative free saline solution. Hyco-san plus I will have to look into. My mucus dries up on the root of my eye lashes and on the outside corners of my eyes. The majority of the time my mucus just builds up and stays either in the corners and or bottom of my eye. I will have to pay attention myself more to see how often the mucus replenishes itself, because I really haven't payed much attention. On a side note, I am a manly man, because I don't cry. Lol Then again I physically can not. I even tried sticking an onion near my eye and nothing happened. I should become a professional onion cutter lmao.

If it bothers me I will remove it. I actually used a cue tip, but I personally can't stand touching anything on the surface of my eyes.
