Forgive me. I haven't followed your particular case very closely (been out of the country), but ... if you're experiencing rather severe eye pain, isn't there any way to express that--either to THIS eye specialist or another who is well-qualified--and get seen sooner??

If it's that bad, do you think it merits a trip to the Emergency Room at the nearest hospital? Most would have an on-call ophthalmologist who can at least rule out something emergent that requires immediate intervention.

Look: we all suffer with this stuff to a degree, but ... it sounds like you've got some issues that might require immediate care.

I wish you all the best....

I agree with Neil. Stabbing eye pain can be a sign of something serious. I suggest you call your regular eye doctor NOW and explain the severity of the pain. If they cannot or will not see you TODAY, or cannot otherwise reassure you, you should go to the nearest ER. If it helps to lend some credibility, I am an R.N.
Every day with DES is like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're going to get.

        pain in eyes

I get very bad eye aches and also some stabby pains from time to time. Mostly aches and burning. The aching spreads into my sinus area and often turns into very bad headaches. My eyes have been looked at very 6 or so specialists and all say the same; meibomian gland blockage and zero lacrimal tears.
