  • Hello Hello !

    Hello Everyone.
Lets start with a quick introduction :
I'm a 21 year-old male French student suffering from ... suspense... Dry eyes ! (surprised?)
So please forgive me if I make some mistakes as my English is not perfect but I'll try to do my best !
I started suffering from Dry eyes in the beginning of the year, with the first symptoms in January... I has been worse and worse since then and my eye doctor hasn't been able to find the reason of my illness. He first thought that it was a mix of Blepharitis and Allergy, but it seems now that it is just "normal" and my eyes are like that and the only thing I can do is warm compresses.
Therefore I didn't wait for a relief from my eye doctor and I started to consult different specialists. Haven't find the reason of my Dry-eyes yet, but I continue my researches !
In fact, since the beginning, I tried to find a solution by myself, thanks to Internet (what would we do without that wonderful tool !!!). In France, you have to wait 6 months if you want to get a consultation with a medical specialist...
I first tried to find solutions on French websites, but as they are very limited, I continued on english/american websites and found dry eye talks.
Thus, I was able to order the Dry eye Remedy for Dr Latkany and Dry Vites thanks to DeepBlueSee. My eye Doctor told me that I shouldn't decide by myself to take Omega 3, but he doesn't help me enough and if I had to listen to his advice I would be totally depressed at the moment !
Now, my left eye is very annoying, itchy and scratchy, but it seems that I'll have to get used to this! I don't know if I have low or mid or severe dry eye, but I know it is annoying enough to waste my life at the moment.
I'm a bit depressed but that's all right, as I heard that in some cases dry eye can disappear just as it came after several years...
Well, that's enough for an introduction I guess, even if I have lots of things to say !
Thanks in advance for this forum, thanks to Rebecca and Dr Latkany and all the people who try to help and give advice on this site !
    Regards,
Hey, nobody said life would be easy right? Please mum, next time you give birth to me, spend more time on the conception of my eyes, okay?

      Hi cityhunter62,

Welcome to this board. I am sorry to hear your story.
Six month is a long time to wait for a specialist. But you don't need to pay anything, right? Is there a way to see specialist in a private clinic where you pay a small fee and have a fast appointment?
You can get in touch with "kakinda" (do a search) on this forum and you may get a good advice about doctors in France.
BTW, have you tried a course of doxycycline to see if helps?
      All the best !!

        thanx !

        Yo !
Indeed, I guess we are lucky in France as we don't have to pay most of the time for medicine. So, that's a good thing. But I heard today at the news that our SECU (the organism which pay for medicical matters) is in deficit this year by more than 12 billions euros !!! So, this system is indeed very useful, but it costs a lot !!!
And as I practice automedication most of the time, I do not have the money back : the system only works when a doctor prescribes the medicine, and as most of my doctors are not efficient and doesn't prescribe me any useful medicine, I have to pay by myself usually :-(
And my last appointment with my eye doctor resulted as : "you need a new pair of glasses". That rminds me Doctor Latkany's book lol.
And glasses are not reimbursed by the SECU. So, let's spend an extra 160€... For a poor student like me, sick...
I haven't tryed Doxicycline yet as I need a prescription from my eye doctor, who just prescribed me warm compresses....
Hey, nobody said life would be easy right? Please mum, next time you give birth to me, spend more time on the conception of my eyes, okay?
