  • Prokera in the UK

I've been in touch with Scope Ophthalmics, who supply Prokera in the UK, enquiring who in the UK would provide it as a treatment,

    The response I got was

    "Thank you for your e-mail.

Prokera needs to be recommended by a consultant Ophthalmologist so I would advise the best thing to do would be to speak to your GP in order to start the referral process.

If I can help with anything else please let me know.

    Kind regards,

    "

So trying to find consultant Ophthalmologist willing to try it, is the next challenge.

You might try Bio-Tissue in Miami in case they are more willing to provide any leads.

Nerd perspective on this: Personally if I'm trying to track down a doctor for a specific treatment I look in the medical literature to see who's published about this, and start googling the names to see where they are.. TFOS DEWS II makes it easier. So for example in this case, I looked in the Management and Therapy report and these were the refs. A bit of googling might yield if any of these folks are in the UK.

Hey, Alex Shortt in London provides them. He's very nice though it didn't work for my dry eye or neuropathy.

Hi deep_dry_eye my email asked them for contacts,
          "Hi.

I'm suffering from post LASIK dry eyes which have failed to respond to normal treatments.

I'm keen to try Prokera which I know has helped many LASIK and dry eye suffers, from sharing experiences on a number of forums and Facebook groups.

I'm struggling to locate a practitioner in the UK, I was wondering if you could provide some contact details for any specialists in the UK? I'm located in Manchester but I'm willing to travel.

          Kind regards."

          Hi
Lena11 I've heard good things about Alex Shortt, was hoping to find someone more local to me, with an open enough mind to try it. My NHS consultant is dead against it for some reason.
