  • Acupuncture Made Things Worse

    Hi,
I just wanted to share my recent personal experience for those who might be looking for feedback on acupuncture. I have ocular neuropathic pain which I was hoping to relieve with acupuncture, even regenerate some nerves maybe with some luck. However, from the 2nd or 3rd session I noticed some symptoms coming back. Like at the time, I was only suffering from severe photophobia and my exposure feeling was okay unless my eyes were exposed to wind or A/C. I continued acupuncture and things continued getting worse. I was thinking, sometimes it gets worse before it gets better or that I need more time etc. Because everywhere I read acupuncture can't harm. In the worst case scenario, it just would not work right?

After 14 sessions, I am in a much worse place than before I started acupuncture. I have been house bound for a long time but now I can barely open my eyes or function in any way even at home. Of course I am stopping it now. Just hoping it's not too late for things to get back a bit better.

Acupuncture might work in different ways for different people of course. I just wanted to send out a warning about what happened in my case...

    Regards

It helped me some years ago, right away only one session for 1 month (eyes were perfect like normal)
but a few years later I tried twice (each time 6-8 sessions) NOT helping - with the same doctor.
I think it helps but only at early stage.

Could be... Did you have neuropathy as well? Or another underlying cause for dry eyes?

No, I dont have (sharp, sudden) pain, about 2 months after LipiFlow and taking vit. D.
My main trigger is MGD, according to doctor, a professor.
I dont have any pain for nearly 2 years.
