Terms of Use

Dear DRY EYE ZONE users:

We think most people are pretty reasonable - they have reasonable expectations from websites and they post reasonable things on bulletin boards and they go away and do reasonable things after reading websites. But there’s always a few outliers, for whom Terms of Use pages inevitably have to be written. And the really hard part is, we don’t know whether or not you personally are an outlier, so for your own good (not to mention ours!) we have to try really really hard to persuade you to read the Terms of Use, no matter who you are.

So listen up:

Read and answer all the following questions. Hint: Your answers to each and every question should be YES, YES, YES.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND that this website is run by patients, not doctors or healthcare professionals of any kind?

DO YOU UNDERSTAND that this website contains only what lawyers call “information”, and not one spec of what lawyers call “medical advice”?

DO YOU AGREE that if you have an eye problem (including dry eye) you need to see an eye doctor?

DO YOU AGREE that if you have an eye emergency, you need to call a doctor immediately or visit the emergency room, and that visiting The Dry Eye Zone or telephoning or emailing The Dry Eye Company is not the right thing to do in those circumstances?

DO YOU AGREE that The Dry Eye Zone, its creators, the people posting on Dry Eye Talk, or anybody else in the immediate vicinity should and can never ever ever ever ever supersede or replace your eye doctor?

DO YOU AGREE that you should not attempt to treat any eye condition (including dry eye) without the supervision of an eye doctor?

DO YOU AGREE that The Dry Eye Zone is not responsible for (a) your eyes, (b) what’s wrong with your eyes, (c) what you do to your eyes, or (d) what happens as a result of what you do to your eyes?

DO YOU AGREE that if you post on Dry Eye TALK and/or Dry Eye CHAT, you will first read the user guidelines posted in the Welcome! forum of Dry Eye TALK, and you’ll comply with those guidelines, and do you understand that if you don’t comply with those guidelines, you may become subject to the wrath of the moderators, which may involve any manner of horrific punishments, including (but not limited to) behaviour modification suggestions and time outs?

If you find yourself answering any of these questions NO or MAYBE or I’M NOT SURE or anything else that falls lamentably short of YES, YES YES, you need to go away, not read this site, and altogether blot it from your mind.

See? Painless.
