  • Importing xiidra to the uk

Has anyone in the UK got there eye consultation to prescribe xiidra and then get it imported to the UK? I am thinking of asking for this though I understand the costs could be high. Thanks for any information.

Not sure it would be something an NHS ophthalmologist would do but feel sure a private ophthalmologist may consider.

I think you are better off flying to Canada/USA , get a prescription , fill it there , then fly back.

Get a UK private prescription and I know a international pharmacy in Germany who can supply. Around 280 EUR for one box.

Thanks so it's going to work out about 230pounds a month? Have you tired it?

              Yes sadly didn't help.

Some people get two months from a box, it's just about possible to get a day's dose from a vial.

If you ever do come to the U.S. (or Canada), some doctors have samples they can give you of Xiidra, around a months supply, to see if it is starting to work before you buy it. My doctor recently gave me a couple sample boxes to try. You can get 4 drops per vial (1 drop per eye 2x daily) if you’re careful. He also had samples of Cequa, which is cyclosporine like Restasis but a higher concentration I think, but I was on Restasis for years and it didn’t help me.

How long did you try it for? Did Ikervis help at all?

I am due to try Ikervis soon.

No Ikervis didn't work for me. I had two attempts at it. Still on repeat with my GP, so could go back to it, if needed.

jack1988 hi jack how you getting on with ikervis?

I've been on it for 3 months and 3 weeks, it's made no difference yet. i was in the office today, overhead lighting, air con and stairing at laptop screen all day. It's like someone is throwing acid into my eyes they constantly burn hard. i'd say it's horrific pain .

Hi, have you noticed a difference yet? The Ikervis has stopped stinging now and my TBUT is at 10 seconds, so maybe it is helping. I wanted to ask you who the best dry eye specialist you have visited is. I am thinking about IPL at Aston Uni, how much do they charge? Also, would be interested in your opinion about diet, as I am certain sugar makes me eye worse!!

                          Have you thought about probing?

                            It could already help you.
