I've suffered all my 57 years just about with intermittent eye problems conjunctivitis, pterygiums, blepharitis, narrow angle glaucoma, farsightedness and always bloodshot dry eye...when I was younger I say an ophthalmologist fairly regularly and never heard the words MGD or Dry Eye...as I got older and my sight started to fail I saw an optometrist and had it explained to me that I only micro blinked ...not blinking properly this being the reason I had Dry Eye...after suffering Blepharitis untreated I saw the optometrist for the first time in some years who told me I had NAG and all my glands were blocked or obstructed..well...I started a cleaning regime of at least 2 hours a day with little if any real results...9 months and I had managed to clean the meibom buildup from the lower lid in the right eye only...much research and dedicated effort resulted in not a thing that would successfully remove the 'sticky concretion' and a hot wash cloth, what a joke...the meibom buildup over so many years was like a thick skin, no wonder all the glands were blocked...so...to short cut the left eye cleaning I used quite drastic measures, I used a cosmetic salacylic face feel...well that certainly cut the mustard...for the first few days I looked like a burn victim and wondered 'what the heck I had done' and wouldn't have recommended anyone to do the same...but OMG what has happened since has shocked and amazed me...as the salacylic acid did it's thing melting away the meibom/sebum build up of the keratin thickened skin around my eyes (yes I used it all over my face) the lashes stuck fast in it all started to release along with the pulling and pressure on my lids and my eyes got wider and wider...I looked an absolute fright with old skin peeling off and reddened new skin exposed but that quickly healed giving me a lovely youthful complexion...but it didn't stop there..I did a few spot follow up applications with the salacylic acid, very gingerly in the inner corners of my eyes close to the bridge of my nose (yeeoow) and the next day from out of the inner corner unfolded half my upper lid again, lashes embedded within the creases, all dragged in and stuck fast by a steady flow of meibom/sebum from my brows over who knows how long...MICRO BLINK I don't think. I was just unable to shut my eyes properly for the lid being 'stuck wide shut'...I couldn't believe how much skin of the lid had been folded up, my eyes looked normal not even the professionals saw any difference...so out of all the creases and the concretion which held them came my now unobstructed glands revealing lovely long lashes and the deep set eyes I had always desired...and the process hasn't stopped, everyday in the shower as more dead skin slubs off the wrinkles open up revealing soft smooth skin and more of my eyes...it's like unpicking the darts on a favorite old dress that has become far too tight over the years showing every lump and bump...my skin fits me again better than I can actually ever remember...what was before my rather narrow nose and squinty eyes with hooded lids with hardly any lashes has now become a youthful new LOOK I love..can't wait to have my vision tested next I'm sure that will have changed with the marked difference in pressure from the lids...I recommend the facial peel to all but get a professional to do it for you...
