Hi guys, I stopped by after years or not logging in to give you guys some hope that it does get better, especially for those young people with dry eyes out there...

Ok so this is a short overview of my story: I randomly developed severe dry eyes shortly before my 21st birthday, it put my life on hold, almost drove me to suicide, and severely affected my studies, career and social life. I tried the Boston scleral lenses without success, restasis, toyos IPL treatment, punctal plugs, you name it. I had a miserable year until shortly after my 22nd birthday, when my dad discovered a couple of supplements online and ordered them through amazon in an effort to help me, (The support of my parents kept me sane and alive), it was a special brand of omega 3 called better brain and omega 7 seabuckthorn oil. After i started taking them i felt so much better that i can now wear disposable contacts everyday and have resumed my life as normal. I can consider this a success for me as the most i think about dry eyes now besides being a bad memory is as a nuisance. Theyre just a bit sandy if i abuse them too much (sleep in my makeup+contacts+heavy drinking+allnighters before exams).

I don't advertise this is as the cure but merely as what worked for me and gave me my life back, I was very skeptical but this is what worked for me, I hope i never experience what i went through at my darkest dry eye moments. You guys dont lose anything with giving this a try, I am now about to turn 24 and im graduating with a finance degree that i had to put on hold because of this thing.

    Good luck

Do you still use any prescription drops?! Or did you get off restasis? Did restasis make you feel worse because I feel it is making my life hell. lol

hey guys thanks for the response, yeah I had tried every kind of omega 3 and they were useless..to this day only this brand makes me feel normal. And no i dont use any kind of drops, restasis or systane....none of that. My eyes are not dry. Yeah I hated restasis, it just made my eyes red.

I am still on restasis My doctor rn keeps pushing it on me, but after a year with him, I'm ready for a second opinion. I have an appointment with a corneal specialist in two weeks and I have decided to tell him I refuse to pay for a drug thats making my eyes look so red and inflammed. When u stopped restasis did your eyes clear up from the redness?

Moni, where can we buy this? I Googled it, and only found a supplement sold on Amazon. Not sure it is the same though. Thanks!

                This is the seabuckthorn oil:

                http://www.amazon.com/Sibu-Beauty-Ce...+sea+buckthorn

Wayyy cheaper than IPL or restasis.

congrats im 22 and had mild dry eye due to my laptop for a year or to now too. It put a lot on hold too, its really annoying. Im trying a recovery for a few months and will work on diet (magnesium, vit c, omega 3,etc.). I hope to recover, it doesnt look impossible.

A great story Sir I congratulate you, I have done some research on this seabuckthorn oil and supposedly its got a lot of great omegas in it you can't get from anywhere else. Congratulations!

However, A word to the wise

Now I'm not a Physician, But I have seen many cases where people who wear contacts frequently actually give themselves dry eye. I mean even recently I have seen some reports in japan from their video meibography where people have worn their contact too much and it has destroyed the anatomy of their meibomian glands causing permanent oil deficient dry eye.

I hope that can be a warning to all of you out there that wear contacts frequently, make sure you get a video meibography to check the anatomy of the glands to make sure nothings wrong.

Mebomian Glandman thanks for the concern, I just wanna clarify that these are new daily disposable contacts that my optometrist suggested to me. They're called "dailies aquacomfort" and have a mechanism of lubricating your eye with every blink. They feel awesome when i wear them and my cornea remains protected because theyre a kinda bandage lens.

Moni, can you give us more info on the nature of your dry eye?

What caused it? Did you have inflammed inner eyelids?

                          MGD, aqeuous or both.

Hi sazy, umm i have mgd due to a mild rosacea. One amazing argentinian optometrist (the current one) gave me a piece of advice when I was obsessed with my problem, he said to just try until you find something that works and get on with your life. Meaning when i found these supplements and these special contacts I moved on with my life and stopped the never ending research. I just take my pills and pop in my contacts as part of a routine and focus in school and other more important things. My long term plan is to get the ICL lenses instead of lasik so i dont have to wear contacts anymore but I probably wont give this a second thought for another several years.

                              Good luck all
