Dr Rothbaum is a patient, caring person with an affable manner. After a few years of treatment with my local optometrist I was stable but not improving - and then it got seriously worse; I made an appointment to see him hoping an ophthalmologist would help. Dr Rothbaum directed my care for about 6 months, inserting punctal plugs, and diagnosing ocular rosacea, and coordinating with to my dermatologist, who started me on doxycycline. Despite my skepticism he got me started on eyelid washes with baby shampoo and a nighttime eye mask. He was also informative about other options available to me and helped me evaluate whether to pursue autologous tears; I opted not to pursue that. Once improved, he referred me back to the optometrist for continuing monitoring and said I was welcome back anytime if I needed to come back.
