  • Gel masks for the night

    Hi,
during sleeping the eyes are not always closed, but there is blinking and many eyes of dry eye patients are staying open for minutes in the night.
So some kind of a moisturing protection is necessary.
According to dr Korb it is essential for the long term success of the Lipiflow treatment, that the patients do apply a Lasting ointment and a good mask for the nights.
If the meibum section right at the gland orifices is drying out during the night, it is getting more and more sticky and cannot get out of the glands at all.
So it takes a moisture and warmness retaining mask for the night.
I have always prefered gel masks.
Some years ago, I got such gel masks there the gel pads are only around the eyes. Infront of the eye there is a transparent
plastic, that does not touch the lids - lashes.

Unfortunately the majority of gel masks do have the full thickness pads pressuring onto the lids and that is very unconfortable for sleeping.

The other type of gel mask do have the gel pad around the eyes, but infront of the eyes is a hole.
Since almost all of These products are coming from China,
someone may do know a gel mask, that does have the gel pad around the eye and the
transparent plastic sheet infront of the eyes?
Especially for patients that suffer bacterial blepharitis, the cleaning issues is important and taking a new gel mask every 2-4 weeks.
