  • Really bad pain 3 months after plug removal

    Hi,

Had a plug inserted to my left eye that complelely irritated me and felt as if it was scratching me. Had it removed and re-inserted but again the same problem. Was eventually "removed" about 12 weeks ago but the corner of my eye is killing me. The plug was inserted originally right into the punctua so the only way out was for them to push it back thro the punctua and flush it out. There is no swelling or discharge associated with dacryocystitis or conditions like that. Has anyone had the same done and does the pain eventually go? It is not an infection and the pain is a dull one that gets worse thro the day (presumably with tiredness) and starts to throb in the evening. Either the plug is still lodged there or there is some damage. No pain killer takes the pain away. The opth did another lacrimal drainage and there seems to be no blockage and had a good look in but can't see anything. Wondering if it was the removal process that has scratched something? Or do I need to see an Oculoplastic. Hope someone can help!

    tks
