Plug with mgd

I had a single plug fitted to LHS back in early May. Its not made much difference and since then I have concluded I have posterior blepharitis and MGD after my optometrist measured TBUT of 5s.
I think the dry eye may be even worse than before - should I have the plug removed? I have a bad tear composition, maybe the plug is retaining some bad tears.
