    Hi Sazy,

I have just received the results from a hair mineral analysis. I will see my naturopath in two weeks to discuss. The results were:

    Low sodium/potassium ratio.
Low magnesium, potassium, iron, sodium, copper, manganese, zinc, chromium and selenium.
Presence of 0.61 aluminium and minimal presence of other toxic metals.
The results indicated exhaustive stress, diminished adrenal glandular activity, imbalance glucose metabolism, impaired protein synthesis, impaired digestion, liver/kidney stress and presence of inflammatory tendency.

My naturopath has just recommended the SIBO diet plan for me alongside the following supplements: cortrex capsules (adrenal gland), b12 - 2000 lozenges (vit b12 and folio acid), bioglycozyme forte capsules (multivitamin), pic mins capsules (trace minerals), hydro zyme tablets (stomach acid), arthred collagen powder, oscap capsules (ca, mg) and arctic cod liver oil.

I am awaiting results of Organix comprehensive urine analysis and my naturopath has recommended thyroid testing on the next visit.

Plan to start my supplement programme next week alongside a specific SIBO diet plan which will mainly involve a breakfast smoothie consisting of 2 egg yolks, 3 scoops of collagen protein powder, coconut oil, berries and one very ripe banana. Other meals will be lean protein and cooked vegetables. Will be avoiding nuts, grains, wheat, dairy (organic ghee ok), alcohol and starch. Some foods can be introduced later on.

    Will update with any progress.

    xx

    Hi dominorose,

I won't be qualified until July 2016, but once I am you will be able to hire me. I will be doing Skype consultations so I can consult with anyone anywhere in the world. In the mean time a good nutritional therapist who specialises in detoxification/functional medicine will be able to help you.

    Hi four chimneys,

That is a lot of fruit (fructose- fruit sugar) for breakfast, try adding a protein source such as gluten free muesli with greek yoghurt and blueberries (you can make your own) this will slow the absorption of sugar into the blood stream, preventing blood sugar spikes.

    Nuts are good for snacks

With the salads you really want to use much colour as possible in the form of raw veg, like grated carrot, cabbage (cabbage increases glutathione needed for detoxification), beatruit etc - this provides lots of antioxidants.

As I always say if diet is not working and you are taking quality omega 3 fish oils with no success the next step is to see a nutritionist for a whole systems approach and maybe have testing for heavy metal toxicity. Diet did not work for me alone, until I started to detox the heavy metals. Im currently on the nutritional balancing science programme (for 4 months), its cost effective and is a detoxification programme.

Hi Faith, I was eating the GAPs diet at first but I don't think its necessary to do a strict diet like that because it is hard work but very good if it suits you.

I will do a blog post on the diet I recommend soon. But not one diet works for everyone so you have to alter any ''diet model'' with what works best for you.

Do you have rosacea? Maybe it's to much fruit/sugars for breakfast. I'd try changing to berries..

And you never had aqeous deficiency? I have just been to see a naturopath in stirling after reading your post - she took a sample of my hair for metal and mineral analysis and I'm going to be doin a urine sample too to test for candida or other bacteria. She has advised me to avoid dairy and gluten, with further diet suggestions once I get my test results back. I have had ongoing thrush and constipation/indigestion problems for many years, I am hoping it is all related and that my dry eyes aren't isolated inflammation.

Thanks again. Good luck in your new career.
    Hi Sharon,

I can tell you 100% without question that it is all related. Dry eye is just a collection of symptoms (upstream effect) which results from the dysfunction of downstream mechanisms (i.e. problems in the gastrointestinal tract, toxic overload and so on). I also had ongoing thrush which is also less of a problem now, the reason for this is systemic candida overgrowth. Candida overgrows due to heavy metal toxicity, because the immune system is overloaded with dealing with the toxins and the most current theory is that the candida binds to the heavy metals and so actually has a protective mechanism against toxins. So you have to get rid of the metals before you can get rid of candida.

Thats great that you are seeing a naturopath and are getting testing! you are on the right tract to healing your whole body and treating the underlying cause.

For candida and intestinal dysbiosis I am going to do a blog post on homemade probiotics soon.

It took about 3 months for my eyes to feel about 70% better, but I have had many flare ups over the last few years- but it only lasts a day or two and I know that It is just a healing crisis in which my body is healing my eyes so the symptoms come back. Healing crises are very common during detoxification, because when the body is healing at deep levels it creates inflammation so healing symptoms can feel just like disease symptoms, but they don't last long unlike a disease crisis. Ive had many!

    Hello Waterbee,

Thank you I will be qualified by next July 2016, I would love to have you as a client! I plan to specialise in dry eye syndrome, Autoimmune disease, the gastrointestinal tract and detoxification. I believe that anything can be healed if you remove the underlying cause (i.e toxin buildup, nutritional deficincies, gut dysbiosis/leaky gut, sub clinical chronic infections I.e candida). Identify and treat the underlying cause and the symptoms (dry eyes) goes away. It doesn't matter what the "disease" is. In functional medicine they teach us there are ALWAYS deeper causes which are driving the condition and blocking healing. The body has an innate ability to heal itself but these days healing is blocked due to poor diet, toxin overload etc, so it is nessary to remove these blocks so that the body can heal itself.

I had a TBUT of 4 in both eyes, inflammed eye lids and severe buning pain, watery eyes and dryness for 10 years. It was debilitating. Now I work and go to college and my eyes are great.

    I didn't have aqueous deficiency.

    Blessings Sara

It's been a while since I've been on the dry eye zone but I wanted to give you all an update.

I'm still doing fantastic. I have healed my dry eyes. They are about 90% better. They never bother me I don't feel them ever now. People who know me on here know that I tried absolutely everything and nothing helped my eyes. I travelled to the US, spent thousands of pounds and never got any relief. I tried restasis, Ipl, every eye drop going, you name it and I've tried it!!!!

I thank god every day for leading me to nutrition and this detoxification programme. I found the underlying cause of my dry eye: heavy metal toxicity and sluggish liver, after only a few months of going on a diet, supplement and detoxification programme to detoxify my body of heavy metals and cleanse my liver my dry eyes went away!

I've now finished my second year of training to become a nutritional therapist/functional medicine practitioner at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, and want to help others heal their dry eye when I'm qualified!

In the mean time I'm doing a blog to give information on how to detoxify naturally to heal chronic conditions

    Hope your all well!
