  • I am so happy to find this site!

3 years ago noticed a dry gritty feeling in my eyes as well as a decline in vision. Let me also add that 20 years ago I had an extensive (and repeated) RK. Though I had a great out come for the first 17 years...it certainly adds to my problems now.

My primary doctor told me it was allergies and prescribed an allergy drop. It made absolutely no difference. But I waited it out for about 6 months thinking if it were allergies then the 'season' should pass. Also not successful. I asked to see an opthamologist and he said I had some erosions due to the dryness and gave me Restasis. Tried it for 6 months and still had symptoms. Returned to Opth. and saw his partner a corneal specialist. He said, "yep, you have dry eyes and it is clouding your visual acquity". Like that was new news to me. <sigh> He said that apparently Restasis wasn't working and handed me several small bottles of different eye drops. He said to try them all to see which would help the most. I wanted to get contact lenses to assist with my vision. He said he didn't know if I could ever successfully wear contacts again. That I should try glasses. He ended the appointment by saying that I should try to make these things work as the next step was a corneal transplant.

So, I have been trying to make all of these things work and have not achieved much relief at all. To add to the mix I had Bells Palsey (for the 3rd time..and yes, you read that correctly) and now my eyes don't seem to seal well at night. I am assuming this is the problem because when I wake up I feel like my eyes are filled with sand and my lids actually stick to my eyes as I try to get my blink back.

So, I found this site and have already ordered Tranquileyes and have cut up squares of Press N Stick to use till I get them. I am actually excited to go to bed tonight!
