I had Steven's Johnson's syndrome 20 years ago and though I don't have significant corneal scarring I have suffered from chronic dry eyes and ingrown lashes for years.
I have been having epilation of eyelashes every few months for some relief but the lashes quickly return. I recently went to a UAB optometrist in Birmingham,Al and was fitted for sceral lenses. So far I only have one lens that fits well but for the first time in years my left eye doesn't hurt. It will cost me $700.00 for both lenses including the fitting.I don't know if my insurance will pay for any of it or not but that is still a lot less than anywhere else I tried. I am supposed to get my other lens in a few days. I saw Dr. Gordon . Yes, they are difficult to put in but it is well worth it to me.
