  • Eyes Splatter/Spit

    Hi everybody,

I'm new here. I have a problem with my eyes. I'm not sure this forum the right place for my problem, but it might be.

My problem is eyes that splatter. They spit, in certain situations. Mostly this occurs when I am playing golf. Especially if it is a cool morning. They spray the insides of my eyeglasses so much that I have to clean my glasses between every hole, or else I can't see very well.

This problem is not new. It has been going on for at least 10 years. It seems to be getting somewhat worse, lately. But maybe not.

I go to a glucoma specialist every six months. She is following me to follow high eye pressures (no glucoma detected, as of now, or any other eye problem/condition other than very early cataracts). I have explained this condition to her. She thinks it may be "dry eyes". I have described this condition to my medical doctor and my optometrist. They don't know what it is.

The problem is, whenever I talk to a doctor about this problem, it is never a primary concern, so there isn't any real focus or follow-up on it. Also, because there is no recognition on their part, I don't bother to make a special appointment to discuss the problem.

I have been told to try eye drops. I have tried Systane Gel Drops, as well as other Systane formulations. They really don't seem to help.

In the last couple of months I have noticed itching and swelling, along with the splattering. I am guessing that I have an eye allergy. But I don't think it is necessarily the cause of the splattering eyes, since the splattering eyes have long preceded the itching and swelling - by years.

My medical doctor gave me Panatol drops for the itching and swelling. I have been taking them for about a week, twice a day. Seems to help the itching and swelling, but not so much the splattering.

This splattering is getting to be a real bother. Does it sound like a dry eyes symptom? If not, does any other type of problem that I might pursue come to mind?
