I went to a new dry eye specialist and it turns out that I only have MGD. So I definitely do not have AD, demodex, etc. As a result I was told to stop using any lid hygiene. I was previously using Cliradex wipes but now I'm advised to just stick with my facial cleanser and water. Do some people actually do better without doing any lid hygiene?
My current routine is warm compress with massage 2x, artificial tears 4x, and fish oil/flaxseed supplements everyday.
I asked if it would be possible to wear contacts again and I was told, "Perhaps part time." Is wearing contacts with MGD okay? She said my eyes weren't serious enough to need scleral lenses but if I wanted to do full time contacts then I could go that route. For those of you that wear scleral lenses, do you need to apply artificial tears throughout the day still since you already have a pool of liquid inside the contact? I wonder if regular contacts work the same way.. except I'd have to take them out to refill the pool or something. If anyone with MGD wearing contacts could weigh in here, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
