Lena11 you say you’re TBUT is 3 ? If I may ask what is the problem you’re encountering your your meibomian glands? Did you have atrophy, or slow malfunctioning glands, blocked glands (excessive meibum production)?

i daw from some previous posts of yours you suffer from a lot of pain, do you have a cause for this? I don’t suffer from any pain (for now you never know what’s around the corner)? Has MGD done something to the nerves within your eyes? I’m really sorry you’re going through this I really wish I could fix us all, breaks my heart.

Topher3 Yeah my tbut is about 3, sometimes up to 5. My glands are about 30% shortened in length. My eyes went from 100% fine to terrible pretty rapidly. When they blocked up the dry eye hit but unfortunately they then became super inflamed too. When the cornea gets really inflamed (plus some serious bad luck) it can damage your nerves. Basically it seems my nerves now constantly fire pain to my head 24/7 even when there is no reason to be feeling pain - it feels like someone is trying to crush my eyes. Sometimes I also get burning which is the normal dry eye pain on top so I'm still trying dry eye treatments to help that. I still wake up at night with dried out eyes and my oil layer has gone down again after using a neuropathic painkiller so I'm probably going to try lipiflow and again and IPL with expression...Literally destroying my life but I'm working with a surgeon now on ways we could wipe out the nerves and hopefully let better ones grow back. All really experimental...

        Hi Topher
When one has discomfort upon waking up - likely
        1) lids are not sealed - mostly eyes are dry (or red)
        2) demodex (may have no symptoms too, but mostly itchy).

dont think it is related to TBUT.

MGD1701Lena11 I’m sorry to hear that Lena but you’re taking the right approach to handle your situation. I think mine was caused from over exposure to air conditioning over the summer. Air conditioning at home and air conditioning at work for around 3 months straight. I’m not 100% sure but I think it was that. My eyes got super inflamed too so I’m really worried my glands have shortened / atrophied too. I’ve got an appointment on the 16/10 at a dry eye clinic. I’m am absolutely terrified of getting the meibography done but it’s something that has to happen. Inflammation was a big issue with my dry eye so I’m really worried. You said you got lipiflow? Did that help at all? Was it worth the money? My symptoms that I experience are, foreign body sensation, dryness, photophobia and my eyes get tired. I don’t experience any pain but that doesn’t mean there isn’t gland damage which I’m 99.9% sure there is going to be there has to be right for these symptoms??. I’ve been going to sleep with moisture chamber goggles and my eyes are feeling much better in the mornings however my eyes are still super veiny. What causes veins in the eyes? I’ve got really bad veins. I think I mis interpret it for inflammation but there’s just so many it seems that way. Do you know much about red veins?

            Hi Topher
LipiFlow helped me about 65%, later pure HOCL, NatraSan spray I have found helped me free from constant watery eyes, even all +10 doctors said I did not have inflammation. Before LipiFlow, I hardly could open eyes around 8pm.

All you need is an accurate diagnose, including gland function (= if cear oil comes out when blink/express) as glands could look beautiful but no function.
without it, just waste time/money. Wise to educate ourslves so we know if doctors treat/handle properply, I have learnt enough lesson and paid huge price.

            red veins, no ideas.

Thanks for the information MGD1701, an optometrist did my meibography a few months ago and said my glands weren’t looking good, however I’m going to a dry eye clinic the first place I’m going where they specialise and actually have a clue about what’s going on. I’m just going to go by what they say. I have clogged glands for about 7 glands on top eyelids from middle out I’m gonna try and unclog them buy I don’t know how easy it will be. Without the oil there it kinda feels like it’s grinding on my eyes. Maybe I should get doxy no one doctor has mentioned it to me as a treatment found out the other day from the forum.

              Thanks again

Eye problems are usually diagnosed in later stages, once the individual starts experiencing irritation or any obstacle that disturbs his vision. Most commonly, people suffer from Dry Eyes, Astigmatism etc. especially the problem of dry eyes are very common and perhaps form the major reason for people to visit eye care specialist. The symptoms of dry eye vary from burning sensation, itchy eyes, sore eyes, dryness sensation to blurred vision. Considering it as a simple issue, people tend to visit optics or browse for remedies. In such cases, it is better to consult an ophthalmologist for a clear diagnosis. Even if the problem is minor it is wiser to visit a specialist for help. Any chance you could change professions if you work daily on computers? Computers are killer on eyes and by themselves are responsible for many cases of dry eye and atrophied glands. Excessive computer usage will only make your situation worse.

When I first went to asia not long ago, I felt like my life had was created again. Back in the us I had a hard time finding anyone who would take me seriously as a companion or husband, Who wasn maybe too old, poisonous, Or just searching for a warm body to marry. I tried the dating sites online, And went on a great deal of dates, But none of the women were anything I could get excited over. Most were definitely not the sweet and happy person I had anticipated having a life with. I know that many will tell me there are thousands of sweet happy women that I would love to spend my life with in the States, But damned if I did find any. A friend of mine was visiting Thailand, And invited me to sign up for him, so when I didn have much else to do, I proceeded to go. I was startled. I felt like I was unexpectedly a rock star. When it was time to leave and come home, I arrived back in the us with a strange feeling. I looked around and all the women seemed to have gained 20 pounds and appeared a lot less amazing.
