There was an article in the Globe and Mail today about lupus: Goodbye, lupus.
I know this forum is not about lupus, but I think what will ring a bell with us is her description of life ruled by disease.
BTW Her treatment was Rituximab. This drug was mentioned to me by a rheumatologist in 2009. He wrote:

Oral immunosuppressive therapies such as oral cyclosporine, methotrexate, or TNF-inhibitors have not been shown to be effective for the symptoms of the sicca complex. Newer agents such as rituximab and epratuxumab are being investigated and show some encouraging results.
