  • Rheumatism / thyriodea-problems and dry eyes

It's well known that you can get problems with dry eyes when you have auto- immune deseases like rheumatism and hyper/hypothyroidism. But what I'm wondering is: Are the lacrimal glands affected the same way when you have these deseases as when you have Sjøgren's desease? What I've read most places is that the glands are slowly put out of function / destroyed when you have Sjøgren's, but I've found no information how it works when you have other autoimmune deseases.

    yes, Toril.
same thing for lupus, diabetes (auto-immune) and a great number of neurological disorders...
they frequently have a least two common mechanism: loss of sensivity and inflammation for instance ...
glands and cornea are but one fucntional unit, nerve transmission is crucial, inflammation becomes a vicious cycle... etc
    Take care
