Went to the Doctor a 3rd time. 3rd different Dr. in 2 years.
Having severe dry eyes. Living off of Restasis, Systane PV, GenTeal, and Blink and Clean for my Acuvue Oasis.
Doctor said my tear production wasn't all that low and similar to the last check a year ago. He didn't have any test for the type (oil, etc) of tears being produced Good clarity and 20/20.
He wasn't convinced that Contacts or one of the products I was using were not causing the problem. He thinks I had a lot of inflammation (ya I did, from super dry eyes for months day and night). Getting a good nights sleep was hard without waking up to put in genteal.
Perhaps one of the eye drops is exacerbating the condition and contacts are too blame. Although contacts often make it feel better.
Dr. Recommendations: No contacts for one day, Continue Restatis, 2 weeks on Steriod eye drops for inflammation, limit any use of other eye drops.
Day one: felt better already, very little dry eyes
Day two: long stressful day of work, a little dry eyes, but manageable without drops
Day three: the same, feeling much better than before, still haven't worn contacts, I am afraid to use them now.
Lessons learned: while I still have a ways to go, don't forget to take into consideration all those different products you are putting into your eyes may be making it worse. And don't be afraid to see several different doctors.
