Cornea has puffy patches

I just saw a dry eye expert today. There is pretty good news about my dry eye. It may not be quite as bad as I had imagined. However, it sounds like both my corneas have some 'puffy' patches. The doctor was somewhat puzzled by this. He said that it could be corneal scars, maybe edema, possibly viral, but they ressembled dystrophy. If anyone here has had a similar comment/diagnosis, can you please let me know what you discovered? I am 3 months post lasik, if that helps in coming up with an explanation.
