It hurts to read all this because it takes me back to my stay in the hospital. I did end up seeing a neurologist who was also a pain specialist back then (Dr. Oaklander at Mass General Pain Center). She was actually the one that diagnosed me as having corneal neuralgia. She's not an eye doctor though so I don't know if she'd be a good choice. She added methadone to my medications but I went off of it several years later because I really didn't think it did anything for me (VERY tough to get off of). My mainstay is gabapentin 900mg 3X/day, cymbalta 60mg@bedtime, clonazepam@bedtime and during severe pain episodes. It's been an up and down 7+years. Life has changed dramatically but it's still life. As long as you have people in your life that believe and support you it makes a huge difference. I did see someone for a year who helped me with panic attacks and I am very grateful for that time.
