  • Sensitive Corneas Vs Dry Eye After Lasik?

I saw a dry eye specialist on Monday and she told me that I don't have dry eye, just sensitive corneas and that I should keep them lubricated to help with the pain. She also told me that most patients she sees after they've had lasik with similar problems as mine feel much better about them at 6-9 months out. Sensitive corneas is BS right? LASIK cuts the nerves and makes the corneas LESS sensitive, not more?

I saw a seperate optometrist yesterday and she noticed that in my right eye the oily film seemed to be bubbling up funny, and that it may be due in part to allergies so she put me on Zaditor to try and clear it up. Anybody have any experience with Zaditor?

"The oily film seems to be bubbling up funny"....does any remember that video that Plat posted some time ago that regarding MGD and a bacteria. The Dr. on it said that one examination the oil film or the bacteria in the oil film was producing a soap like by product.

Here is the link, let me know if it doesn't work.

As for sensitive corneas...i remember post Lasik my eyes were so painful to the touch, I thought it was the eyeball but it turned out to be the eyelids that were inflammed rather than the eyeball itself. i don't know if this is your case but just thought I'd mention it.

as fr things getting better in 6-9 months. I think there is a really good chance they will. However it is really important that you give yourself the best shot at this by doing everything you can to help your healin.

      Sensitive corneas are BS???

I'm not so sure about that.

Based on what I've read, there are different types of nerve endings.

Some nerves, for example, detect sensation while others detect pain.

      Yet another study:

This study is from 2009. I read the whole report by Dr. Moilanen, but now I can't find the link. It's very interesting.

Is MGD a common side effect of lasik? When its said that the oil film or the bacteria in the oil film is producing a soap like by product, it makes me think that the feeling I'm getting especially in my right eye and often intensified when I blink is one of soap in the eye. Something to ask the doctor about next time I'm in to see him.
