  • Elestat/BAK made eyes dry?

I used elestat several days for my itchy allergy eyes... a few days later my eyes became so severly dry... this happened before when I used Lotemax last year. I think I am allergic to the BAK in these drops.... Does anyone else have this problem? Can't use allergy drops cause they make the eyes drier days later???

    thanks in advance!

    Hi there!

Yes, I've had the exact same experience when using eyedrops with BAK ( I had to use cortisone drops preserved with BAK for a month, and my eyes got more irritated, lightsensitive and dry than they were before I started the treatment. Had to stop the treatment due to the BAK-issue). I'm using allergy drops every day, all year around, and I'm using Zaditen single vials (so no preservatives).

If you are interested, you can read more about preservatives and issues related to it on http://preservative.free.fr You'll find a lot of info here (it's written by a French eye association I'm a member of).

Also, we have a petition going on now about the preservative issue, and we need as many signatures as possible: http://associationgeniris.free.fr/in...joomlapetition

    Have a good weekend!

    Greetings from Toril

BAK is bad news if taken for more than a short time. Some doctors have prescribed drops for patients preserved with BAK for years and then find the patient was harmed by the BAK in the drops. Lucy
