  • Need to find a magnifying viewing device for eye examination at home

Okay... This is gonna be a tough one!

I would like to know if there is a device that can be used for the purpose of getting a magnified view of of the eyelid that would make it possible to distinguish the minute crusty secretions that form around the eyelashes.

I have blepharitis so my eye doctor can see them when he examines my eyes through the slit lamp but I'd like to know if there is something suitable for me to use at home. I do the eye lid hygiene religiously twice a day but I have no way of seeing how good a job I'm doing, nor it is possible for anyone else to see it with the naked eye.

An x20 mirror is not powerful enough, an "ophthalmic viewer" is and it only costs about $200 but it will only make it possible for me to have someone look at my eyes through it and tell me what's there which wouldn't be as useful as me seeing it . I believe there must be a way to hook up a magnifying camera to a home computer so that the image on focus can be seen on the monitor.

If anyone can help me with this I'll be grateful.

Im not sure if this is the best thing out there but i use a Vitiny magnifier (example: http://www.mart-shopping.com/vitiny-...-90x-f300.html) which has up to 90x zoom. You have to look at the screen in the mirror as you have it up to your eye, but you can also take photos with it. You can definitely see everything & it gives you an appreciation for the importance of lid hygiene. but its a bit awkward to use so let me know if you find anything better. Cheers
