Do I have blepharitis?

I am trying to take matters into my own hands, one eye doctor tells me I have small signs of blepharitis, but did not seem overly confident with it, a specialist for blepharitis looked at my eyes, seemed somewhat confused and then perscribed a lid scrub with fucilthalemic antibiotic. This was 3 years ago. The blepharitis i have is not mgd, it is when you get debris/crust on your lashes.


My new eye doctor claims he does not see blepharitis. I stopped with the lid scrubs, I dont know if my eyes are better or worse, about the same. My eyes dont feel as good as when I did the scrub, but from a redness inflamation standpoint theirs no difference.

The only thing I do know is i can pull out my lashes very easily. Does this mean i have blepharitis if i can easily and lightly tug on my lashes and they come out? My lashes did seem stronger when i did scrubs.

The other thing is while the lid scrubs make my eyes feel great and literally when i am scrubbing them my eyes get nice and white (no idea why), they also dry out my lids, I use novartis hypoallergenic scrubs, very gentle, but the lid scrub leaves my eyes drier and red. They feel great, but are dry and irritated.

It sounds like blepharitis to me - anterior blepharitis that is. (I have both).

My lashes are very `unstable' and grow in odd directions. I used fucithalmic for a while - and it really helped. One isn't meant to use it for a long time because it can irritate the eye. My eyes started to feel irritated when I tried it again - I don't know if it's because I used it for a length of time in the past - or if my eyes are just generally very sensitive to everything.

I don't use scrubs now because they made the lids feel very dry and sometimes worse. I've been using a low dose steroid for some time but the lids are still inflammed. The consultant isn't able to advise on what to do next; I've been compliant with every therapy / drop etc but it's a frustrating condition to manage.

Thanks for the reply. Just curious but what do inflamed lids look like? Im not to sure?

I am seeing my opth again next week, I hope he looks at my eyes this time. Last time he just prescribed me alrex.

He did say though he does not see any blepharitis, i dont know how one diagnoses it?

I think i will do a lid scrub but maybe every couple of nights before bed.
