  • Milky Meibomian oil ?

    Just had an examination with an optometrist specializing in dry eye here in Toronto, Canada. She said I had a 17 and 26 Schirmers score in my left and right eye respectively. Pretty good ? My oil dryness was 0.5 on a scale of 0 to 3. Even better ! However she noted my oil was well expressed but milky in color. Not so good ! That usually means MGD and I wonder how I can improve it so its clear like it supposed to be. Anyone experience this and improve it ? According to her, I have mild dry eye but I sure don't feel that way. Definitely responded to Restasis but I think the oil is a crucial component of a healthy tear film.

    RE: treatment arsenal for MGD

    My treatment arsenal for MGD includes:

    * lid hygiene (compresses, scrubs, at-home expression of glands)
    * oral doxycycline
    * azasite
    * IPL
    * probing (see other's posts!!)
    * (near future?) Lipiflow thermodynamic device

    That's all that I can think of right now. Maybe someone knows of other treatments.

    Good luck.
