  • Eyelid Lesions

    Hi,

I have the wonderful Ocular Rosacea...or at least they think it is that. MGD with Bleph and now eyelid lesions.

The eyelid lesions are only in the top eyelid of one eye. Warm compress (q-tip method mentioned here) has helped some, but in all honestly, it seems to irritate my eye more then help.

Tried the shower method, q-tip then cold compress. But still my eyelid is inflamed.

There is a prob with MGD in both eyes, but the one with lesions is inflamed permantly.

Any advice to tackle this would be very much appreciated. Opticrom allergy eye drops have not helped.

On a side note, can Red Light Therapy help?

PS - Bleph has pretty much gone now, but eyes get drier and sting towards the end of the day...

      RE: ocular rosacea

Are you on oral doxycycline? If not, it might help. Please ask your MD.

Personally, I can't use heat/warmth on my lids because of my rosacea (facial & ocular). My skin (especially lids) get annoyed when I try...

      Good luck.

Yeah, have got some 40mg slow realise doxy (Oracea) but didn't want to start it as 1. I don't want to make things worse and 2. It's not a cure so I'll be stuck on it forever.

You are right... there is no cure.

And it's up to you if you want to take any treatments.

Had you thought that it might make things better?

            It's not a question of cure - it's management.

              Hi,

              Thanks for your replies.

It may well help, but the very long list of possible side effects (http://www.drugs.com/pro/oracea.html) and the fact that I would surely have to be on it forever - or until a better solution comes along makes me look for alternatives.

It certainly isn't that I am just looking to let off steam and not treat it, on the contray, this is why I asked if Red Light Therapy might help and have less side effects?
