erythromycin ointment-can using too much make eyes more irritated? re: ant. bleph

i was wondering if anyone had any experience with using erythromycin ointment for anterior blepharitis and if it is possible to use too much and irritate the eyes further??? I have a tendency to overdue it on things and after 2 days my eyes are still so irritated and yucky feeling.. Now I am thinking maybe I am using too much ointment for the blepharitis?? Is it possible to make your eyes worse this way???

I have not used the medication myself so I have no first hand experience. However, on most of the drug information sites, irritation is listed as a common side effect.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using erythromycin ophthalmic and call your doctor at once if you have severe burning, stinging, or other irritation after using the ointment.
Less serious side effects may include:
• mild stinging or eye irritation;
• mild itching or redness
• blurred vision; or
• increased sensitivity to light.

thanks for responding to me.. i ended up going to the doc.. i have severe allergies-that time of year again. ughhh.
thanks for posting the side effects.. i see that eye irriation ,and rednes are among them.
