  • Blepharitis diagnosis need advice

I was diagnosed with blepharitis by my eye doctor this week after complaning of very swollen red eyelids in the AM. I have been telling doctors about this for months but they all say "looks OK to me." My appointment was in the AM this time so my lids were still quite swollen. I am really experiencing a flare-up of symptoms. I have tried various drops, compresses etc. and nothing seems to be helping. Maybe someone can shed some light on what has worked for them.
    Things I have tried:
    Warm compresses in PM
    Ocusoft lid scrub pads
Cold compresses in AM for swelling
    Cetaphil fragrance free face wash

    Drugs/Drops
    Pataday
    Bromday
AzaSite (for little cysts on lid margin)
    Bacitracin ointment (doctor just prescribed)

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I just spoke with my doctor and he recommended using Azasite (again) 2x a day for 5 days and if this doesn't help he recommends oral Doxycycline. Have you tried either of these drugs? I am reluctant to use the oral Doxy...I have heard you can have the Doxy compounded into an eye drop. My doc says it is very expensive but at this point I am willing to try!! Anyone tried the drop??

I just swallowed a pill of oral doxy as I read this . Do you know what caused your dry eyes? For example, did you have LASIK done, did you have an eye infection, or did it just randomly come out of no where one day? Also, how long have you been suffering for?

How long have you been taking the Doxy? Is it helping?? I have multi-issues/causes for my dry eye. I wore contacts for years to correct severe myopia (-13), developed retina problems, had laser treatments and lastly had IOL's put in both eyes. Many complications with my left eye. I had dry eye to begin with and after the surgeries it kicked in BIG time. So, dry eye about 4 years but really bad dryness plus this Blephariyis for the past one and a half years.

ive been on doxy for years..i dont think it helps me much cause my glands are always clogged-but maybe they would be worse w/o it... i tried azasite once for 3 days but it hurt my tear film so bad i stopped
