  • Quick Question on Meibomian Glands...

When I look at my upper lids in the mirror I can see the tiny glands/oil from the glands whereas the bottom lids appear smooth and I can't see anything.

Is it right that you can't normally see the glands/oil without a microscope and if you can it's a sign that they're blocked?

    CHeers.

Don't quote me on this, but I think you're right. Normally, you can see them, but if you have MGD, they get "capped" and you can see very tiny white spots along the lid margin. It just depends ok the severity.
Normally can or can't see them?

Mine are clear rather than white!?

If the light is right and you have either really good eyes or a magnifying mirror you can see the oil when you express the glands. Some people say they cannot. I definitely can see this, at least on the upper lids. Not so sure about the lower.
